Tau Army Update

I'm up to 900 points, just added in a squad of Pathfinders (WHY DO THEY MAKE ME TAKE A FISH!), and 2 more crisis suits. Gonna wait till christmas then treat myself to 3 of those sweet sweet ForgeWorld Broadsides. I'm genuinely saddened that my painting skills won't do those models justice. I'm tempted to leave them primed until I can do it, but i know i can't restrain myself that much.

Getting my first 900 point game in in a bit. tempted to make a batrep. Heh, on my crappy Table with Malifaux terrain.

Tau Project, Ready! GO!

I've decided to ship my orks off to a friend of mine who'd love to play 40k but can't afford it. it was no big loss to me, since I hated playing with the green boyz. Horde armies are not my style, if I could go back in time I'd never have split that Assault on Black Reach set, and instead bit the bullet and began the army I've wanted for years: Tau.

The Tau have probably the best models in the game. They are the only race that really scream sci fi to me. Eldar... kinda. but they are just Elves in space, and the only way you could tell the space part is with the vehicles. The basic Tau troop, the fire warrior, is perfect Sci Fi. From the ground up, you know these things aren't exactly human. The armor looks like it was made to stop lasers and explosions, instead of stopping a bayonet. The guns look futuristic, the Carbine is the perfect Sci-Fi laser gun, and i'm glad I've found a way to use them (counts as Markerlights for a pathfinder squad). The helmet, with the 2 lenses stacked vertically help that future image, and the helmet shape is sleek and alien. i've chosen not to add the antennae, because i think it detracts from the sleek look.

Onto the paint scheme, thats the thing I'm having most trouble with. Blue is my favorite color, so i'm gonna prime with Army painter crystal blue, then keep it to a predominately cool pallet. Mostly greens and blues, with White to make things POP. The Suits will be more green than blue, to help them stand out. My Vehicles (all of which are magnetized so they can be Transport fish, Hammerheads, or Skyrays) are all painted with an ocean camo scheme, as if your looking down on them from a not quite clean section of ocean.

i'll post pics within the next week. Still picking up the broadsides and possibly a few ForgeWorld piranhas. Ohh forgeworld... thats a subject for another time.
